The Dragon of the Ishtar Gate 2
- THE DRAGON OF THE ISHTAR GATE 2 - A black ink drawing on an 11 x 14 size vellum paper. This icon appears in the book, "THE DRAGON OF THE ISHTAR GATE," by L. Sprague de Camp, published by Donning in 1982. It decorates the top of the page for each of the 19 chapters in the book. The chapter numbers and headings were placed inside the "scroll" at the bottom of the drawing.
When I met Mr. de Camp at a 1979 SF convention, I was immediately impressed by his bearing and manner; he was tall, trim, impeccably dressed, sophisticated, and yet amiable. A gentleman if there ever was one.
Although de Camp wrote lots of science fiction and fantasy books, I have 32 of them, he also wrote several historical novels, I have 5, and this book is one of them.
